The PTF coordinator stayeyd that the task force has received guidelines from the Minister of Transportation, Gbemisola Saraki, on measures to put in place to mitigate the spread of COVID'19 while the ban is lifted and people are allowed to travel. He stated that the Task Force is currently reviewing the guidelines and roads will be open when it's safe to do so.
He further stated that as of now, the interstate ban is still in play although, the Minister of State for Transportation has been saddled with the responsibility of engaging road transport workers to make sure that the usual garages and parks are ready in terms of guidelines to put in place such as physical distancing, reducing number of passengers and provision of hand-washing facilities among others.
Aliyu said the talks with the road transport workers have started and when all negotiations are completed, the ban will be lifted when it's safe to do so. He expressed his worries over the lack of compliance of the interstate travel ban as well as the safety protocols to mitigate the spread of COVID'19. He urged everyone to abide by these guidelines for their own safety.
